Accomplishments and Failures in 2021

Looking at my accomplishments and my failures in 2021 makes me think it wasn’t bad at all. So let’s see how is my 2021.

Just like other people, I also do a personal self-review. I used to look at the things I had achieved and failed in the past years to know what I should improve and what I should leave behind to reduce my excess baggage. If you are a reader of me, you will know the milestones of my achievements and the hardships I faced when I came to Korea. Just like endlessly studying the Korean language, failing and passing the Korean Citisenzhip exam, and applying for citizenship. From the past year, I have been able to build new friendships, and new travel goals as a Global Fellow in Seoul for two years.

Was 2021 the worst year?

They say 2021 was the worst year due to the pandemic, but it also gave plenty of opportunities to freelancers like bloggers, vloggers and even stay-at-home parents. What I’m saying is that there are more online jobs on offer than offline jobs because not everyone can do the office work. Even the lessons were done online. Stay-at-home dads discover their passion as family influencers and more.

On the other hand, some also suffer from depression and anxiety which made them lose hope. Some have also lost family members due to Corona. Some companies were closed, and then online delivery platforms were born. 2021 was worse for many and may be good for others.

Achievements and failures

Looking at my accomplishments and my failures in 2021 makes me think it wasn’t bad at all. Although I lost a few of them, I was still able to handle and test other opportunities.

2021 Global Seoul Mate

You know I’ve been a part of Global Seoul Mate since 2020 and the same last year. I was able to work with Visit Seoul and Seoul Tourism Organization which was a really great opportunity. Apart from that, I met new friends and visited many tourist spots in Seoul which were really fun to experience. Just like the Sebecium Island Panorama, DDP and Seoul Marina Yacht Club Yachting Tour. With the Global Seoul Mate program, I was able to experience K-Healing through the Seoul K-Medi Center, join exhibitions at the Lotte Museum of Art and Lotte World Tower, and had fun adventures in Lotte World.

Unfortunately, this year 2022, I am not allowed to join the program anymore because I hold Korean citizenship. The Global Seoul Mates Program is only open to foreign nationals living in Korea. So if you are a foreigner and want to join the said program, you can check out our official Instagram visit in Seoul for more details.

I got a part time job

Last year, I also got a four-month working contract as a leading mother. Wait, what’s the leader mom? This is a group of immigrants from different countries who can teach children multicultural education. But elsewhere around Korea, it is well known as a multicultural breeder. So as a Filipino, I was expected to teach Filipino culture to students.

My job ended in June of last year and I haven’t found a new job yet. This is sad but on the other hand, I can take care of my son because the pandemic got worse in 2021.

Become an ambassador of Korea Shopee

Losing my job gave me time to build my profile as a blogger/influencer. I was selected as an ambassador for Shopee Korea which has worked with various major brands including Mediheal, Cosrx, Dewycel, Some by Mi, Manyo, Grafen and many more.

Supporter of the Seoul Lantern Festival

Another opportunity came before 2021 was over when I was selected as a supporter of the Seoul Lantern Festival. As a supporter, I need to take photos and make a review about the festival and upload them to my social media sites.

At first, I was hesitant because the contents should be written in Korean, and I don’t have that confidence when it comes to my Korean level. But at the end of the activity, I was selected as one of the most active supporters and received an additional cash gift.

Ideas for 2021

2021 has given me a lot of opportunities to be productive as a multicultural educator (even if it’s a short experience), traveler and blogger. Maybe I’m not as famous as others but I managed to get good insights and performance in my business.

Despite the good things that happened, there were also less moments when I thought about leaving the blogosphere. What other people say is not all the things we see on social media. Even as a blogger, I still keep my private life for my followers and I still keep what I really feel. There are days when I am in a dilemma where I am between light and darkness. My anxiety kills me sometimes. That’s why I don’t post anything and listen to anti-anxiety meditations on YouTube until I feel better. By doing this, it helps me from time to time to put myself on the right track.

In 2022 I am looking to be better and I want to stay happy. All I want is good health, happiness and of course financial freedom. I also hope that I can fulfill all my responsibilities as a parent and wife. Also, my goals as a blogger will not change, I keep creating new and good content. Please be good to me 2022!
