Christmas Light Displays in Seoul

The Christmas light shows in Seoul are so amazing and amazing that they provide a real Christmas mood despite the lack of carols.

Celebrating Christmas can be lonely for many of us, especially for those far from home. Many of us also spend Christmas without a home due to hurricanes, fires, or tsunamis. It’s sad, isn’t it? But when we see even a small glimpse of the Christmas light, we feel happy and think that one day we will be home. It is also a light that gives us hope that after the storm we will have a brighter day.

Although it is a silent Christmas here in Seoul, companies and the government have also prepared something to at least celebrate the holiday. My recent post, 5 Ways on How to Get in the Christmas Mood in Korea in 2021, includes light screen hunting. So let’s see how amazing Seoul can be during Christmas.

Where can you find Christmas light displays in Seoul

Starfield Library, COEX

The largest library in Seoul located in COEX also put up a huge white Christmas tree that gives a bright and shining color. It’s actually near the Hyundai Trade Center branch which is why I can take pictures of both the H-Village and the library.

Hyundai department store chose the H-Village theme where you can see a small white house with ornaments inside and surrounded by Christmas trees. They have the show in Apgujeong and COEX. Although the Pangyo branch is located in Gyeonggi-do, many people still visit the Christmas light show there.

This year, Lotte World launched its own Christmas Show ‘winter miracleWhich lights up and displays from November 26 to December 31.

Lotte World Mall

Lotte World Mall has a Little Cloud Big Wishes theme but there is also another display that you can see just like the seasonal staircase on the 5th floor. I called it seasonal because the management changes the design depending on the season and year. This year, it was like a white Christmas.

Also, there is a “CHANEL N°5 X ICE RINK” where you can skate until January 16, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM for 12,000 won.

IFC Mall theme is so cute because of Santa Claus who is busy making Santa hat. Besides, the center has also prepared a lightning display outside the building that lights up during the night.

Seoul Plaza

Seoul Plaza also has a tall Christmas tree with a cross on top of it near the I SEOUL U logo. It’s simple but of course still gives a special meaning to everyone. I took a picture and the lights weren’t noticeable yet because we arrived earlier than we expected. That’s why I use some photo tricks to make it prettier.

Every year, the Seoul city government also has its own Christmas parade in Cheonggyecheon Stream, but because of the aura, they only used a small space. Reservations before the visit are a must although entry is free.

The lightning starts at 6:00 PM and will continue to watch until December 31, 2021.

Myeongdong Cathedral

The luminous roses of Myeongdong Cathedral are admired by visitors during the Christmas season. The best place to take pictures of the cathedral is to visit the rooftop of Molto Café.

Myeongdong Light Festival

Trees in Myeongdong are decorated with Christmas lights and there is a huge Christmas tree in front of Myeongdong Theater. The Light Festival is simple, light and honest. Although Myeongdong is full of lights, it has lost its sparks since the epidemic. Before we had Corona, Myeongdong was one of the busiest places in Seoul from day to evening. It is the shopping district of Seoul and many tourists stay near Myeongdong because it can be accessed through subway stations and lots of restaurants and shopping stores. But now, I feel very lonely. I really hope this pandemic ends soon so we can get back to the things we used to do like travel.
