Dali and Cocky Prince Korean Drama Review

Dali and Cocky Prince is about the unexpected romance between a resourceful businessman (Kim Min Jae) who lacks an education and the elite director of an art museum (Park Gyu). Young) who recently lost everything.

korean drama Dali and Cocky Prince - Park Gyu Young

Park Gyu Young plays Kim Da Li. She’s a wealthy woman who has plenty of book smarts and runs an art museum, but when her father dies suddenly, she’s left in debt and struggling to take care of herself.

Kim Min Jae is Jin Moo Hak. He and his family run a chain of restaurants. He doesn’t have much of an education, but he’s street smart and resourceful. A series of events prompted him to meet Da Li in addition to being indebted to him.

Kwon Yool plays Jang Tae Jin. He is a rich and powerful man who was previously engaged to Da Li and enters her life again in a big way after her father’s death.

Dali and Cocky Prince is a fun drama that was a nice change of pace. It felt like a drama that would have come out 5 years ago in terms of style and tone which is something I really liked. Although it actually turns many traditional cliches on its head with a new spin. So I think a lot of people will enjoy that.

I also like this genre a lot because it’s kind of a mystery rom-com. For the most part, it’s a lighter drama with humor, romance, and heart. But there is a more dangerous side that involves a mystery as well as the many struggles Da Li and Moo Hak face.

Romance was entertaining in this series. Da Li and Mo Hak are completely opposites. The first episode was pretty cool when they first met, and we really get a good look at their chemistry right away.

Events eventually lead to an enjoyable preparation for him from participating in her art museum in an utterly dramatic fashion as he becomes both a creditor and a debtor. Kim Min Jae is especially fun in this role, and I found his character very entertaining.

We then have to spend a good portion of the drama with them on a light sparring stage due to the circumstances around them, but I always had fun when these two were on screen together.

The bickering was fun, and it was obvious how much Moo Hak liked Da Li as he tried to help her and she slowly opened up to him. I wish they had met a little sooner, because he was deep in the drama before they did.

But when they do, it’s awesome! They are a lovely couple who are a wonderful mix of kind, dedicated, playful and mature. A very interesting combination for sure!

More dramas appear in the second half as we deal with some of the people who come to the Da Li Museum as well as Jang Tae Jin in the middle of it all. There are some secrets and spice things to be revealed.

We get cute personal explorations of Da Li and Moo Hak. Da Li largely loses her family and all her wealth, forcing her to be on her own. While there was a lot she didn’t know and understand, she was a very capable woman who did the best she could for herself and those around her. She did things on her own if she could and, when necessary, accepted help. It grows a lot during this journey and matures more and more.

Then we have Mo Hak who is a bit rude but very kind hearted. His perception of the world changes when he falls in love with Da Li, and he sees things from a different perspective. Suddenly, something is more important to him than money. He’s always been cute, but we watch him become a very tender man who puts love first.

I should also mention Moo Hak’s secretary, Mi Ri (Hwang Bo Ra). She was fun, a good employee and a great friend. I loved watching this duo interact in every way.

K-drama Dali and Cocky Prince - Kim Min Jae and Park Gyu Young

Dali and Cocky Prince was a very entertaining watch. It’s a good rom-com with lots of humor, heart and a mostly light-hearted feel. It also has a low-level mystery/suspense element that runs in the background to spice things up. The rhythm is good and complemented by a nice soundtrack and great costumes. All in all, it’s a very good drama.

My rating: 7.5 / 10
