[HanCinema’s Drama Review] ‘Our Beloved Summer’ Episode 10 @ HanCinema

Ten episodes into the drama, NJ was given a compelling characterization. It turns out she really likes real estate. I had never thought of this explanation before, because New Jersey’s interest in buying buildings was only mentioned in the context of her attempt to approach Wong. But before meeting Woong, NJ’s real estate purchases were a matter of the celebrity gossip track record. I’ve only ever met Woong because he’s mainly known for his architectural designs, and at the time he was holding an exhibition.

Once again, I am incensed by the pace at which this baffling drama is presented. Until this episode I didn’t even realize that Wong only painted buildings. Our exposure to his art was so trivial that I would have assumed he painted other things as well. The long-forgotten plagiarism claim of Noo-ah makes considerably less sense if they are both architects, because the nuances of such a specific subject matter require a stricter standard than superficial similarities.

In other forgotten events, Woong started the story as an unknown artist, only revealing his identity to participate in the Yeon-soo pop-up store project. Wong’s decision seemed volatile at the time – and more so in light of the flashbacks to New Jersey, and new developments in their plot line. Technically, Woong himself is now a celebrity, subject to gossip like NJ. The word “technically” does a lot of work there. Celebrities who are not known for their screen presence are generally not considered topics worth gossip unless they have very active social media accounts.

screenwriter Lee Nayun I He has this weird obsession with hurting New Jersey, and it shows in the malicious comments story. This bothered me before, because I know a fair amount of this subject for being a famous reporter. But even beyond realistic accuracy, this is a really contrived way to pity the really annoying character NJ. New Jersey is a young, lonely woman who has no friends, loves architecture, and is allergic to any negative comments whatsoever.

This is convincing on its own without having to make anonymous New Jersey commentators turn into heartless monsters. “Our beloved summer” Full of many pointless creative decisions like this. In other weird plot twists, we also find out that almost all of the action in this drama takes place in the same small neighborhood. This information is noteworthy mainly because it begs the disbelief that this never came before.
