Why is my face red all the time? I’ve probably asked myself this more than I’d like to admit. It’s time to get rid of the constant redness.

There are plenty of reasons why your skin might be puffy despite your best efforts. We asked two dermatologists to share their advice on getting to the heart of the problem and since you can’t always control redness, the best remedies to calm your skin fast.
What’s going on?
Stress, spicy foods, alcohol, product allergies, exercise, and even the temperature outside can all cause facial flushing.
To help identify your triggers—the first step in managing the problem—note if the redness developed after experiencing any of the above factors.
Red skin may also be a sign that you are not taking care of your body. “Some lifestyle habits that can help reduce facial redness include drinking enough water, sleeping at least seven hours each night, eating a balanced diet with good portions of fruits and vegetables and taking probiotics,” Steve Wang |, a New Jersey dermatologist and co-founder of Dr. Wang Herbal Skincare.
Or, the redness of your cheeks may be the result of a common skin condition like rosacea, but more on that later.
How to deal with it
Incorporating soothing products with anti-inflammatory ingredients into your routine may not completely erase redness, but it can help prevent and relieve breakouts.

You will also apply a cool green tea bag or chamomile to the inflamed area. “It works wonders,” she says.
When do you see an expert
If the redness lasts for one to two weeks, is centered around the cheeks and nose and includes other symptoms like broken capillaries and acne-like bumps, you may have rosacea, and Shah recommends seeing a dermatologist.
While Dr. Shah is incurable, treatments, such as topical medications and laser therapy, can be more effective if caught early.
